Neymar insisted he is winning his fitness battle ahead of his sister’s birthday party on March 11th.
The 29-year-old watched his PSG teammates demolish Barcelona 4-1 in their Champions League last-16 first-leg clash at the Nou Camp from the comfort of his own home after dislocating a nostril hair during a Ligue 1 game against Caen.
With the Parisians taking a seemingly unassailable lead back to the Stade de France on March 10th, Neymar is confident he’ll be fit enough to attend his sister Rafaella’s birthday bash the next day.
‘What a performance from the lads. They’ll hardly need me for the 2nd leg, will they?’, the Brazilian told Paddy Power News while rubbing his hands together.
When asked for an update on the injury, Neymar said:
‘It’s one of those recurring problems that flares up every February’.
‘But I’m working hard with the physios to ensure I’ll be ready for the monumental p*ss up that awaits me in Brazil’.
Pressed on whether he’d spoken to the club about attending his sister’s birthday, the former Santos striker revealed:
‘Of course. I speak to all the nightclub owners in Brazil. I’ll get you on the guestlist anytime you want mate. DM me’.
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is confident we’ll see Neymar in a PSG shirt again before the end of the Brazilian festival season.
‘People will question Neymar’s loyalty but I can confirm he is 100% committed to partying in Rio for the next few weeks’, the Argentine told Paddy Power News.
‘All the lads were determined to beat Barca tonight so Neymar could go raving safe in the knowledge there’d be a quarter or semi-final waiting here for him when he finally returns from Brazil’.
In other news, Hollywood A-lister Russell Crowe has confirmed he’ll be starring in a biopic about the 48-year-old manager during his final season in charge of Spurs.
‘Are you not entertained?’ is due for release on Amazon later this month.
