Paddy’s Hall of Fame: Punter smashes Sunday with 2,340/1 racing sevenfold

Favourite after favourite winning...

Last weekend’s racing might’ve felt the chill at some tracks, but one of our punters was in red-hot form on Sunday as they picked seven-straight winners at 2,340/1!

It’s fair to say Paddy was feeling heartbroken on Sunday and not just because the postman “forgot” to deliver the hundreds of Valentine’s cards that were surely due to land in his letterbox.

That’s because of a wily wager placed by one of our canny punters in Northampton, who now has £4,681 to splash around after their £2 acca featuring a smashing six favourites all winning came roaring home.

Forget your dozen red roses, I’ll take seven winning bets, thank you very much!

The carnage started at Southwell in the 13:50 when Straightouttacompton showed plenty of attitude in justifying 9/4 favouritism before French challenger Karl Phillipe, at 6/4, had enough je ne sais quoi at Exeter 20 minutes later as another favourite landed to get the bookies on the run.

And they were starting to sob into their Milk Tray’s when the 15:20 Southwell went to another runner at the top of the market in Aria Rose, who was 11/8 at the start and cruised home to make it three-for-three for our punter.

But the real fun was only starting as this stunning bet saw four more winners inside an hour of each other to put the seal on a Valentine’s Day massacre for the racing traders.

Southwell-all-weather-racing

First, it was a switch across the Irish Sea to Punchestown for the 16:00 where another Gallic galloper, Farmix, kept on well under Jack Kennedy at 4/1 to add win number four.

It was then back to Southwell for another fav in Smokey Malone (7/2), who scorched the field in the 16:20 before The Big Dog took a lump out of the bookmakers’ arse pockets when he became the fifth favourite of six winners on this walloping great effort as he took the 16:30 at Punchestown.

Which meant the stonking sevenfold would live or die on the final leg with Owhatanight, an even-money shot,  at Southwell in the 16:50, and the gelding duly obliged and made the earth move for one lucky backer at odds of 2,340/1!

Cue incredible scenes.

Now, if you don’t mind, I’m just off with a box of Roses I bought myself. I’ll see you when I see you.
