Paddy Power punter nets close to £4k after £2.50 bet on 11-fold acca

The stuff of Saturday acca dreams.

Using encyclopedic football knowledge that would put Jeff Stelling to shame, a Paddy Power punter from Liverpool perfectly picked off a jaw-dropping 11-leg acca that had us wiping our eyes in disbelief last weekend.

Our winner correctly predicted the outcome of games across NINE European leagues last Saturday to beat out odds of 1,461/1.

The awesome acca returned a tidy total of £3,652.50 and Saturday will have been one sweet day for our victor when the final leg landed at around 10pm. We won’t hold you in suspense much longer. Here’s how the cash was claimed.

Our trip begins in the furthest outpost from Liverpool on the betslip, with our punter needing a win for Dynamo Moscow over Sochi in the Russian Premier League in the 12:00 kick-off. The Moscow club did just that in style, winning 3-1 at the Lev Yashin Stadium.

Next, matters moved closer to home as the bet required a draw in the early Premier League game between West Ham and Manchester City. A stunning bicycle kick from Michail Antonio gave The Hammers the lead at the London Stadium, but super-sub Phil Foden levelled the game in the 51st minute. Our customer’s heart must have been in the mouth late in the game when Raheem Sterling was fed in one-on-one against the home side’s keeper, but Lukasz Fabianski stood up well to deny the City star and keep our winner’s wager alive.

The Bundesliga meeting of Mainz and Borussia Monchengladbach was calling next and the away outfit took the spoils for our punter with a 3-2 success, thanks to an 83rd-minute winner from Matthias Ginter. A short hop to France followed, and Marseille duly played their part to bring the bet in by snatching three points at Lorient with a goal from Leonardo Balerdi.

Two games in the Turkish Super Lig were also on the hitlist at 17:00, and when Galatasary toppled Erzurum 2-1 and Istanbul Basaksehir saw off Antalyaspor 5-1, our winner was six-for-six on the day. Seventh heaven swiftly followed in Italy, as a Romelu Lukaku-inspired Inter Milan took the spoils away at Genoa with an easy 2-0 triumph.

A swift move westward was required next as our winner wanted Sporting Lisbon to get the better of home side Santa Clara at the Estadio de Sao Miguel. They needed an 81st-minute winner to do it, but a brace from Pedro Goncalves was just what the doctor ordered, and that left just three legs left to conquer.

We were back in Italy for game nine and goals from Luis Alberto and Ciro Immobile grabbed a 2-1 home win for Lazio against Bologna that they scarcely deserved, with the visitors dominating the game – not that our victor cares about that!

Nerves must have been settled a bit as Heerenveen got the bet ticking into double digits with a 4-0 stroll at home to FC Emmen (we’d hate to see what Ajax will do to Emmen!)

Luis Suarez may not have been the hero a punter from Liverpool would have wanted, but he was the one our winner needed to bring it home.

The Atletico Madrid man sealed the deal for his new side (and the bet) with a 91st-minute strike against Real Betis to lock in a 2-0 win at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

With that result, all our bean counters could do was hold up their hands and accept the flogging they had just received.

Congratulations to our crafty customer on one hell of a beautiful bet and may we suggest going on Mastermind next!
