Football tips: Goals galore can land our 24/1 Champions League acca

We can’t wait to hear that wonderful theme tune again this week.

17:55 Shakhtar Donetsk vs Inter: Both Teams To Score (Yes)

Both Shakhtar and Inter have started their respective seasons in great goal-scoring (and conceding) form. The home side have scored 16 so far and conceded eight over their seven matches in the league, while Inter have scored 13 and conceded eight in the Serie A. Both Teams To Score (BTTS) has landed in six out of seven previous home Shakhtar matches in all competitions, and has occurred in seven out of 11 recent away Inter matches in all competitions.

The onus will be on Inter to take the initiative here as they made a pig’s ear out of it against Borussia Monchengladbach at home last week and with them facing Real Madrid twice in November, they could really do with taking the three points here.

TIPS: Football tips: Liverpool to have a whole Jota fun v Midtjylland with this 6/1 Same Game Multi

20:00 Atalanta v Ajax: Both Teams To Score Two or More

Both teams coming into this match are in great goal-scoring form. Atalanta have netted 15 over their five Serie A matches so far this campaign, conceding 12. Ajax, fresh from a 0-13 (Yes, THIRTEEN!) away win against VVV, have netted 24 over their six league matches and have conceded just three. We saw Liverpool somehow manage to keep them scoreless last weekend and the Amsterdam side were left fuming at the full-time whistle that they couldn’t salvage something from the match.

Atalanta have found the net with at least two in seven out of 10 previous home fixtures, while Ajax have scored at two or more in seven of their nine most recent away matches in the Champions League. Both of these sides are just full of goals and we should see sparks flying here.

20:00 Borussia Monchengladbach vs Real Madrid: Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals

‘Gladbach have scored eight and conceded eight over their five Bundesliga matches so far, and really took their opening Champions League match to Inter at the San Siro. So much so, they were unlucky not to come away from the match with the full three points. Real’s form has been all over the place this season, going from losing two in-a-row to Cadiz and Shakhtar at home to beating Barcelona 3-1 away last weekend.

Their form mightn’t be predictable, but they’ve scored nine in six in the league, conceding four and should be good for a couple here. With both teams in good goal-scoring form, we should see both teams getting on the scoresheet.

20:00 Liverpool v Midtylland: Both Teams To Score (No)

Over the last few seasons Liverpool have managed to keep the likes of Bayern Munich, Porto and Barcelona all scoreless at Anfield. Those were all in the days when fans were actually allowed into matches though, and since the lockdown Liverpool’s Clean Sheets record isn’t nearly as good. Even Sheffield United have scored against them at Anfield this season, and they’d only scored two league goals all season up till then.

Midtylland aren’t a Premier League side though, and even if they did beat some decent sides to qualify for the Champions League this season, Atalanta really welcomed them to the Group Stage proper with a 4-0 thrashing at home last week.

Looking at their five most recent away matches in all competitions as well, Midtylland have failed to score in three of them. We reckon the occasion and Liverpool’s experience at this level should see them keeping the Danish side scoreless here.

20:00 Marseille v Manchester City: Both Teams To Score (Yes)

Marseille’s form hasn’t been the best this season with four wins, three draws and one loss, scoring 11 and conceding eight. Man City’s form also hasn’t been mighty with two wins, two draws and a loss – with eight goals scored and eight conceded in the league. Marseille lost their opening CL match 1-0 last week away to Olympiakos, while City beat Porto 3-1 at home.

Facing into a double header against Porto, Marseille are going to need to get something positive from both of those as City will surely do the business against them here. However, the French outfit do have a strong home-scoring record, having scored at least one in seven out of eight previous fixtures.

On the flip side, City have scored at least one away goal in 12 out of their last 15 on the road in all competitions. Marseille should be good for one here against a City defence that has only kept two clean sheets over their 10 most recent fixtures.
