Burnley v Tottenham tips: Gareth Bale can roll in Phil Thompson’s 20/1 double

Thommo fancies the Welsh wizard to get off the mark.

Correct Score: Tottenham to win 2-0

Burnley have also been strong and tough to beat at Turf Moor. However, they are sitting third from bottom in the Premier League at the moment and have only managed to score three goals all season – all of them coming in defeats. They are very similar to Sheffield United when it comes to statistics at present.

THOMMO’S TIP: I can’t see beyond Spurs to win this game, I really can’t. I believe the away side will win this one 2-0 and get back on track after what happened against West Ham last week.

Gareth Bale to score anytime

I know a lot of the punters might be on this already, but I quite fancy Gareth Bale – whether he starts or not – to be on the scoresheet here. He should have scored last week against West Ham when he jinked inside the box and dragged it wide of the post. He really should have finished it.

It was probably a bit of rustiness that prevented Bale from taking that chance because he cut in onto his favoured left foot from the right side. His movement to get in there showed off his tremendous ability and I thought that he’d just put his foot through the ball, but it wasn’t to be. He’s not played a lot recently, so we could see some rusty moments from him for a bit.

THOMMO’S TIP: I’m not sure if Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho will risk him from the start, but I believe Bale will certainly get more minutes on the pitch on Monday and that will be enough to get him a goal.
