Football tips: Kane to crack the whip as Spurs host London rivals West Ham

Can Jose’s boys keep the goals flowing on Sunday at 16:30?

Spurs, at times, have looked like both the best and worst team in the Premier League season. Meanwhile, West Ham are one of just four teams in the league to have won their last two games – alongside the footballing giants that are Everton, Aston Villa and Southampton – so this has a bit of a bite to it, you know.

Spurs have scored 12 times in their last three Premier League outings, while West Ham have scored three or more in their last two fixtures in the competition. The cynic among you is probably expecting a cagey affair, then? All you xG advocates?

Spurs to Win

We’ll get this out of the way first, because I don’t believe this West Ham run is remotely sustainable. They’ve been benefitting massively from teams that play very high lines against for them no apparent reason. Mourinho has seen this and knows that he can go long to keep his backline relatively deep, that should counter West Ham managing to find the breakthrough when they actually have to build play up.

Spurs have the ability in the final third to play like this because they may actually have the best front three in the world at the minute in Son, Kane and Bale.

Under 0.5 First Half Home Goals

For much the same reasons as I don’t expect many first-half goals this weekend, teams are quite sapped of energy. They haven’t had the chance to run the sessions they would have wanted as players get off planes, into bed, and back up for an energy-sapping reeducation of their club’s tactics. It always takes time for the Premier League to find its feet after an international break, let alone one as taxing as this.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane to Have Three or More Shots on Target

When you consider he’s probably due at least two penalties based on current trends, it’s hardly a major surprise to see this selection. Kane and Son have the strangest dynamic of any two people on this planet.

It works for them, though. Where one grafts, the other flourishes and I feel like that favour is about to be returned by the South Korean star in a big way. Kane is still the best striker in England, no matter what your uncle keeps shouting at the family weddings.
