After Graham Alexander’s shock sacking at Salford City, we’ve priced up Manchester United legend Roy Keane as one of the front runners to replace him. We’ve got the former Ireland coach as our second favourite for the job with only Warren Joyce ahead of him in the betting.
Joyce, the ex-United youth team coach, is currently in charge of Salford’s development squad and could be set to make the step up to the top job. The surprise name out of the hat is the return of Sir Alex Ferguson, with the Manchester United legend priced up to come out of retirement and help out his old mates.
Many of the Class of ’92 and their teammates have been linked with the job, with the likes of Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Phil Neville all being mentioned as potential options as the next permanent boss.
While Jamie Carragher is something of an outsider to be trusted by his Sky Sports co-pundit and be given the reins at Salford. Meanwhile, the current Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, is priced even longer than Carragher to make the step down – or is it up? – from the Red Devils.
It’s still early days, but our punters have been backing Keane to be the next Salford City manager. I’d imagine the Class of 92 would be too terrified to reject him if he applied.
Or could it be a move for Ole, if things continue to go awry at Old Trafford? He wouldn’t have far to travel, at least.
