Football tips: Wilson talk of the Toon in our 18/1 Same Game Multi for Newcastle v Burnley

Let's be honest, no one is expecting a classic here.

If Steve Bruce cut his knee after a fall, Brown Ale would drip out of him. Newcastle’s performances this season have been pretty functional and there does appear to be a plan, with four points in the bank so far.

Meanwhile, the most Burnley man of all-time, admittedly by pure elongated association, is somewhat losing the clubhouse as it were. That one-nil loss to a Southampton team that absolutely everyone will be scoring against should be setting off alarm bells all over the town and it seems weird to say it – but is it time for Burnley and Sean Dyche to say farewell?

This game will tell us a lot as the styles are similar, the level of quality isn’t miles off – and it’s such an easy comparison to make. That’s a good thing for the winners, but a potentially crushing thing for the losers. Let’s sink our teeth into a Same Game Multi.

Newcastle to Win

Ultimately the quality should shine through as this Magpies unit seems somewhat progressive and have various options in how to attack a side.

If they sit in, you can very easily cross the ball and bring Andy Carroll into play. If they play a high line, there are three pacey wingers at the club. If they want to be open and ambitious, Callum Wilson will pick up pockets of space and make them pay.

Newcastle are no longer one-dimensional and really the old cliches thrown at Steve Bruce about negative style really aren’t merited. He just has a knack of pulling out results and I expect the same here.

Under 1.5 Goals

This will be a one-goal game, regardless of whatever way you look at it. Late kickoffs feel like psychology tests. As the dark sets in, you begin to feel the clock tick towards 90 and you know well that you can hang on.

Didn’t expect we’d be talking about the weather did you?

Callum Wilson to Have 3 or More Shots

He’s confident, and as we saw at Bournemouth, when Wilson is confident, he’s one of the top marksmen in the entire league.

The reasons for this are down to technique and his incredible ability to finish at all angles. He’s on a bit of a hot run and given Newcastle are at home and will expect to see most of the ball, it should help the forward get a sight of goal.

And as we know, a sight is all he needs. Expect him to be the difference-maker once more – exactly what we believed when they signed him. Sometimes football is easy isn’t it?
