Wolves to win
West Ham showed signs of life in their narrow defeat to Arsenal last weekend, but they are still remain in a perilous position regarding their league status.
David Moyes’ charges are one of the frontrunners to drop down to the Championship next season and, if they fall to a third defeat in three games on Sunday, things will start to look very grim. The Hammers just do not inspire confidence.
They don’t look nearly good enough to keep a clean sheet at the back and they certainly don’t look capable of knocking two or three goals past teams of Premier League quality.
They will struggle against a formidable Wolves side on Sunday.
Wolves were ripped to shreds by Manchester City for 45 minutes last Monday, but came out a new team in the second half.
They really should have pulled a goal back earlier than they did and who knows what would have happened if they had.
As it transpired, Raul Jimenez and Daniel Podence passed up gilt-edged chances to drag Wolves back into the game early in the second half.
When they did eventually combine to give Wolves hope, it proved to be too late and City weathered the storm.
Nuno’s side, however, are a class above West Ham and Wolves should have no problems coming away with three points on Sunday evening.
Raul Jimenez to score anytime
While Jimenez skewed an excellent opportunity mid-way through the second half against City, he proved his class with a truly excellent header late on. It seems to be the story of the Mexican’s season so far; scoring difficult chances and failing to convert the easier ones.
Still, he has been getting in the right positions in Wolves’ two games this season and he is undoubtedly one of the better strikers in the league. Jimenez netted in Wolves’ win at the London Stadium following the restart and he boasts a good record against the Hammers with three goals in four league games against them.
Jimenez is by far the most likely player on either side to find the back of the net on Sunday.
Both teams to score? No
Wolves have played West Ham four times since their return to the Premier League in 2018; they have beaten West Ham to nil on all four occasions. They seem to have the Hammers’ number and West Ham appear to find them impossibly difficult to break down.
It’s not like West Ham’s attacking prowess has improved since the sides last met. West Ham are almost the exactly the same outfit that were easily turned over in June by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and are arguably even worse since things look to have gone a bit stale for David Moyes.
They lack inspiration up front and could be in for another frustrating night on Sunday so we’re on Both Teams to Score? No.
