Football accumulator tips: Our 19/1 five-fold for Saturday’s European action

We're all off on a European tour...

Saturday’s football action from around Europe has a bit more of a familiar feel about it, Spain’s La Liga is restarting, Germany is kicking off the season with some DFB Pokal Cup matches, Turkey’s Super Lig is back, the Netherlands’ Eredivisie returns and France’s Ligue Un has been back for a few weeks now. Some of these leagues will even have fans at the games. So then, let’s have a look at the best of what these competitions have to offer value-wise.

2.30pm – Nurnberg vs RB Leipzig: Leipzig to Win to Nil

Thanks to their two matches in the closing stages of the Champions League we got to see what life will be like for RB Leipzig without the scoring talents of Timo Werner. It looked like things were going to be fine after their 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid but a 0-3 thrashing from PSG really showed their deficiencies. Now, there’s quite the difference between Bundesliga II’s Nurnberg and PSG, but the home side will be fired up going into a cup match against Germany’s most despised team.

Here’s the thing though, Nurnberg were nothing short of awful last season, scoring just 15 goals in their 17 home league matches. In their final six home matches they scored in just two. Leipzig had one of the lowest Goals Against stats in the Bundesliga and away from home only conceded 16 goals in the league. The distance between the pair should be evident here so we’re backing Leipzig to Win to Nil.

5.30pm – Granada vs Athletic Bilbao: Granada Draw No Bet

Granada have beaten Athletic in three out of five previous meetings at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes, with Athletic winning one and one ending 0-0. Indeed from those five matches the away side failed to score in three. Granada ran a tight ship last season only conceding 16 goals in their 19 home matches, only the two Madrid teams had a better home record. They won 10, drew three and lost six at home.

Bilbao, on the other hand, could only win four away matches last season, drawing eight and losing seven, conceding 24 goals over their 19 matches. We’re siding with Granada here but taking some insurance here thanks to Bilbao’s away draw record. We’re backing Granada Draw No Bet.

6pm – Galatasaray vs Gaziantep: Galatasaray to Win and Over 1.5 Goals

Galatasaray will be chomping at the bit to get going this season and try to improve on last season’s disappointing sixth-position finish. Gaziantep on the flip will be happy with their eighth position and will hopefully try to push on up the table this season. Galatasaray though are a strong unit at home, winning 10, drawing five and losing just two league matches last season. Gaziantep won five, drew six and lost six. The away side have a decent away scoring record but that has to be contrasted with the home side’s sturdy defence last season that saw them concede just 15 goals in the league at home.

This should be a handy enough win for the home side, 2-0 or 2-1 territory so we’re backing Galatasary to Win and Over 1.5 Goals.

7pm – Zwolle vs Feyenoord: Over 2.5 Goals

These have been real ding-dong affairs over the past few seasons, all five of their previous meetings here have seen Over 3.5 Goals landing. Honours have been shared though, both have won two and one has ended in a draw. The away side are favourites here and with good reason, they’ve gone 14 matches in all competitive matches without a defeat and that shouldn’t change here. Zwolle’s record at home is decent and as noted above these two love a battle so we’re going with goals. Over 2.5 Goals is at healthy odds considering those stats above.

8pm – St Etienne vs Strasbourg: Under 2.5 Goals

St Etienne won their only match of the league campaign so far, Strasbourg though have lost both of their first two matches.

Both teams aren’t exactly full of goals -St Etienne only scored 15 at home last season, Strasbourg got a paltry 10 on their travels in 2019-20. We don’t think we’re looking at a goal-fest here so we’re going with Under 2.5 Goals.
