Football Tips: Goals galore in our 8/1 international acca as Ronaldo chases 100th Portugal goal on Saturday

The Nations League continues this weekend and Ronny is closing on a major milestone

Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal

The internationals are coming thick and fast and Saturday’s highlights include current Nations League champions Portugal taking on Croatia while Denmark face everyone’s second favourite team Belgium (unless you’re French of course).

We’ll also have a look at two of the early kickoffs where Cyprus go up against Montenegro and Estonia entertain Georgia.

5pm – Cyprus v Montenegro: Cyprus Double Chance

Here’s an interesting stat for you – Cyprus’ new manager Johan Walem, a former Torino and Parma midfielder, has won all four of his last opening matches as a new team manager. That will be taken as a good omen for the home side here. Neither team is in great form though, Cyprus have lost their last three matches in a row and at home of their five matches in 2019 they could only beat San Marino, losing to Scotland, Russia and Belgium and drawing with Kazakhstan.

Montenegro are pretty dire on the road; over their three previous away matches they shipped 12 goals (seven against England) and didn’t even score one. They come into this match though as favourites thanks to their higher FIFA ranking but there’s little here that would indicate they’ll be the better team on the night, particularly when we compare the form of both sides. We’re going with Cyprus Double Chance here.

5pm – Estonia v Georgia: Georgia to Win

Estonia played a total of 12 matches in 2019 – they won two, drew two and lost eight. They scored a total five goals and failed to score in any of their five most recent matches. At home they won none of their five matches in 2019 and in 2018 won just one of their five home matches.

Georgia aren’t exactly world-beaters either but thanks to some good results away from home last season they were promoted to League C from League D. Indeed, they were unbeaten in their six matches and with Estonia seemingly unable to buy a goal of late we’re going with Georgia to Win here.

7.45pm – Denmark v Belgium: Both Teams to Score

Belgium come into this match as heavy favourites according to the betting odds. The Danes though are in good form and are unbeaten in their last 15 matches, quite a run. Belgium’s run of 10 wins in-a-row is even more impressive though and they’ll be confident of making it 11 from 11. However, Kevin de Bruyne will miss this match as he’s going to be a dad again.

Belgium have the stronger squad on paper, that nearly goes without saying, but Denmark are a solid side and rarely go a home match without scoring so we’re going with Both Teams to Score here.

7.45pm – Portugal v Croatia: Both Teams to Score

Portugal have lost only one of their last 15 matches, winning 10 and drawing five, while Cristiano Ronaldo is just one strike away from 100 international goals – although the Juventus forward was forced to sit out training on Thursday morning due to a toe infection.

Croatia are in very good form, losing just three of their 15 most recent matches, winning eight and drawing three. But Zlatko Dalic’s side do not always travel very well and of their five most recent away matches they only won one, against Slovakia, and they could only draw against Wales and Azerbaijan and lost to both Hungary and England. They are always good for a goal though and we’re expecting both teams to get on the scoresheet here so we’re backing Both Teams to Score again.

All of these picks in a four-fold Acca will give you odds of around 8/1 with Paddy Power.
