Football Tips: You’ve got to see this 9/1 Same Game Multi for Celtic v Ferencvaros

The Bhoys welcome Ferencvaros to Glasgow at 19:45 on Wednesday.

Celtic needed to get a result in the Scottish Premiership this week, and they needed to do it without exerting too much energy and focus. A late goal securing a 1-0 win away to Dundee United on a miserable Saturday afternoon? Check.

So now you maintain momentum, keep spirits high and can continue preparations for, in all fairness, the much bigger game.

Ferencvaros have won each of the last two league titles in Hungary and while Hungarian football might not be right up your street, I can guarantee you that nobody in Debrecen knows who Ross County are, either.

In recent years, Ferencvaros have had mixed results on the continent, but in last year’s Europa League, qualification from the group stage just escaped them after good results against CSKA Moscow and Espanyol.

Adam Bogdan

Oh, by the way – their goalkeeper? Adam Bogdan. Their manager? Sergei Rebrov. It’s like the who’s who of niche Premier League footballers who people had high hopes for before them disappearing into thin air.

But in all reality, this Celtic might be good enough for Champions League group stages, and the last time their Hungarian counterparts managed that level of success was back in 1995. So, here’s your same game multi!

Odsonne Edouard to Score First

Ferencvaros play a high line. For what reason, only you can guess. But their prices here suggests that they’re somewhat fancied to cause Celtic problems. The reason for that is they tend to congest the pitch to the best of their abilities. They’re also one of the most organised sides in Europe from set pieces.

With those reasons coming into effect, it’s clear to me that Celtic will have plenty of joy in behind and there aren’t too many marksmen better at judging a run off the shoulder than Odsonne Edouard right now.

The joy here is, I suspect this approach will last up until this goal goes in, before they revert to a low block and try to catch Celtic on the counter when they realise that they’re up against it.

Celtic: Over 2.5 Goals

There’s too much quality in this side for there to be a lull. Not that their previous antics against KR Reykjavík mean they’re going to expose Ferencvaros to the same fate, but Celtic seem to step it up on European nights under Neil Lennon, and given this is a single-leg tie, it does feel like they’re not playing a week-long fixture.

That psychology often lends to teams getting too cautious or not putting everything into the first legs. Luckily we avoid that fate here, and Celtic will, in all likelihood, turn it on with Over 2.5 Goals.

Half-Time: Celtic

I’d suspect they’ll probably bag in the first five minutes, but we’re better off claiming a half-time victory when the price is as appealing as it is. There’s going to be no fatigue to battle here, nor any distractions, so Neil Lennon’s boys will be at it fine and early with a half-time lead.
