90th minute penalty helps football punter net £2,529 from £1 stake

What an awesome acca!

Oh dear! It’s only gone and bloody happened again. Our bean counters won’t be happy as one punter from London gave us a good hammering over the weekend.

Our winner picked nine games from all over the globe, including ties from the Champions League, Scottish Premiership, League of Ireland, MLS and the lower tier of Spanish football in what was a beautiful bet.

For just a £1 stake our crafty customer netted over £2,500 after betting on games last Friday and Saturday.

Like all big odds acca wins, it wasn’t without its drama. Let’s tell you how it all come together:

Five of our victor’s games took place on Friday and a 2-1 win for Bohemians over League of Ireland champions Dundalk set the dominos falling on this nine-fold.

Things started to look even better for this bet a little later as Man City secured a 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium over Real Madrid – largely thanks to a pair of huge gaffs from Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

At the same time Juventus may have exited the competition on aggregate to Lyon, but a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the Old Lady a 2-1 win on the night and that was all our punter required to keep the ball rolling.

Two goals from former Manchester United star Nani helped Orlando City to beat Minnesota in the wee hours of the morning to add another check to our list, but it was a few hours earlier in Spain where things came within a whisker of falling apart.

Already relegated Deportivo La Coruna met Fuenlabrada in the Segunda division in a match that was delayed 19 days after the scheduled finish of the league because of an outbreak of coronavirus in the Fuenlabrada squad.

Our customer needed Deportivo to win to keep the bet alive, but they trailed the visitors 1-0 going into the final five minutes. However, Claudio Beauvue stuck in the 85th minute to leave a very nervous finish.

Then, VAR got involved to give the home side an injury-time penalty and the same man stepped up to score from 12 yards to keep our punter’s dreams alive as Deportivo ended up 2-1 winners.

Moving onto Saturday and the remaining games came in on our victor’s betslip with the minimum of fuss. Ross County and Hibernian scored relatively easy successes over Hamilton and Livingston respectively, and all that remained was to chalk off two gambles in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich ticked the first box, seeing off Chelsea with ease in a 4-1 victory at the Allianz Arena and Barcelona did similarly against Napoli, as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez got themselves on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory over the Italians.

That meant our winner had turned a £1 stake in a £2,529 win and all we can do is say welcome to the Punting Hall of Fame!
