Football Tips: A tasty 16/1 treble for Wednesday’s Championship action

It's do or die for a lot of these now.

18:00 Nottingham Forest vs Swansea: Forest to win

Nottingham Forest are more or less assured of their place in the play-offs, but could still do with avoiding defeat against seventh-placed Swansea on Wednesday night.

Forest are now without a win in three games after throwing away leads against Derby and Preston either side of a damaging home defeat to promotion rivals Fulham.

Sabri Lamouchi will be keen to see his side return to form ahead of the play-offs assuming they make it there. Swansea, on the other hand, will fancy their chances of making the top-six, even after a late setback at home to Leeds on Sunday.

The Swans had been in decent form prior to that defeat and had managed to close the gap to Cardiff to just a point. Cardiff are faltering and may well have dropped more points by the time Swansea kick off at the City Ground.

This is a huge opportunity for Swansea to mount a final push for the top-six, but they will struggle to break down a Forest side that proved so stubbornly resilient when the sides met earlier in the season.

It may prove to be a similar story on Wednesday with Forest taking a massive step towards the play-offs.

17:00 Brentford vs Preston: Brentford (-1)

Brentford continue to make up ground on second-placed West Brom and could well have the chance to further close the gap on Wednesday night with West Brom facing a tricky encounter with Fulham on Tuesday.

Brentford have won six out of six since the restart and look well placed to win their last three games and continue to mount pressure on West Brom. Preston, meanwhile, missed a glorious chance to move into the play-off places with their draw against Forest.

They somehow still have a decent chance of making the play-offs, despite winning just one of six games since the restart but their hopes could be dealt a fatal blow on Wednesday night.

Brentford are simply too good at the moment and should continue their automatic promotion push.

18:00 Birmingham vs Charlton: Charlton to win

Birmingham’s form since the restart has been so bad that Charlton, who were in the relegation zone when the league resumed, can jump above them with victory on Wednesday.

The Blues have not won since the restart and picked up just two points in a run that has cost manager Pep Clotet his job. Their opponents Charlton, however, are in a bit of a slump of their own having initially enjoyed an excellent start to the rescheduled season.

Charlton have lost each of their last three games and have failed to win in four, having initially picked up seven points from their first three games.

Birmingham’s run is far more worrying though and the home side have gone 11 games without a win in the Championship in a run stretching back to February 11.

Time may be just about be on their side and they should retain their place in the division, but it may get a little bit too close for comfort.

It will be especially uncomfortable if they lose on Wednesday night and City may just do so.
