For Wednesday night’s European football action we’re focusing on the battles going on at the top of Serie A and we’re on one Portuguese match as well. Juventus look set to win the league again, but are stumbling towards the finish line while Lazio will be desperate to get their title hopes back on track.
AC Milan are the form team in the league and are making flirty eyes at the European places. Later that night Porto play Sporting and can take a giant step towards landing their 29th league title. Let’s have a look for some value in the betting markets.
18:30 AC Milan vs Parma: AC Milan to Win & BTTS to Score
Since Christmas Milan have played 19 matches and they’ve lost only two, both of which came before the lockdown. Since the return of play Milan have played seven, winning four and drawing three. Parma have also played seven, winning one, drawing two and losing four.
Parma are no pushovers, though. They’ve scored at least one in all of their seven matches post lockdown and, away from home this season, are averaging 1.44 goals per match. Milan are expected to win here but their leaky defence should see the away side scoring so we’re backing Milan to Win & BTTS at great odds here.
20:45 Sassuolo vs Juventus: BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals
Sassuolo come into this match on a run of four victories in-a-row, having drawn two prior and losing their first match following the break in play. Juventus are obviously in a crisis, they’ve lost one and drawn one over their last two matches. Hopefully you can detect the sarcasm there.
But the pressure is huge on the Old Lady, like with Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain, when Juventus drop points it’s quite simply unacceptable among the fans and Juve-leaning media.
They have a good record away to Sassuolo, though. Since 2014 they’ve won four, drawn one and lost one. Sassuolo scored in four out of six of those previous meetings and, in six out of seven of their matches since the lockdown ended, they’ve scored at least two. Both are in great goalscoring form so we’re looking at BTTS & Over 2.5 goals here.
20:45 Udinese vs Lazio: Both Teams to Score
The market is going with Lazio, the odds for an away win have been dropping steadily since they opened and with Udinese’s recent record you can’t really blame punters for going with the away side.
Udinese have won two, drawn one and lost three in their last six matches. Lazio’s form isn’t good though, and they’ve lost their last three in-a-row with two of them going from winning positions to defeat. Lazio have some great players but it’s clear to see they don’t have the depth in their squad for a title push just yet.
Lazio have beaten Udinese in five out of six recent visits but their recent form is putting us off backing them. Udinese have scored 10 in their last six matches while Lazio have scored eight. So, we’re looking at Both Teams to Score here.
21:30 Porto vs Sporting: Over 2.5 Goals
Porto, with five games to go, are eight points ahead of Benfica in second and look set to land their 29th league title, their 11th this century. They’re been in good form since the return of play, winning five, drawing one and losing one.
Sporting too are in robust form, better than Porto actually, winning five and drawing two. This is one of the games of the Portuguese footballing calendar but Sporting’s record at the Estadio do Dragao isn’t mighty. The home side have beaten them in seven out of 10 recent visits in all competitions. Sporting have won only two.
Over 2.5 goals has landed in three out of four previous Porto matches and in two out of four Sporting games as well as in seven out of 10 recent matches at Porto’s home turf. Both are in good goal scoring form, averaging 2.40 and 1.53 goals respectively. We think we’re looking at goals again here so we’re backing Over 2.5 Goals.
All of these matches in a four-fold Acca will give you odds of just under 14/1.
