Football tips: Our 3 wonderful wagers for Man United v Southampton on Monday

We’ve got a top threesome of tips for tonight.

Alternative Handicap: Man United (-1)

Manchester United welcome Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Southampton side to Old Trafford tonight at 20:00 and little did we think before the Covid-19 interruption in play, that we would be talking about two of the most on-form Premier League sides meeting here.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have been flying since the return, and are unbeaten in all six games they played since the restart – netting five wins and a draw. But, it’s their last four Premier League games that have particular caught my eye as they’ve seen off Sheffield United, Brighton, Bournemouth and Aston Villa all by impressive three-goal margins.

Meanwhile, Southampton have been delighting their fans since they came back. The Saints have plundered 10 points from a possible 15 on offer and firmly put any relegation fears to bed.

Only Arsenal have beaten them in that period, but I can’t see them holding off a red-hot Red Devils outfit tonight. Also given United’s prowess in front of goal of late, expect the home side to beat the (-1) Alternative Handicap here as well.

Both teams to score

Goals look to be on the card at Old Trafford tonight too, as neither side has had any problems finding the onion sack of late.

Man United have banged in a whopping 17 strikes since the resumption and their attack, led by the wonderfully talented and creative Bruno Fernandes, is really firing on all cylinders for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, Bournemouth proved there is still some fragility at the back in Manchester when they made the trip to The Theatre of Dreams nine days ago, breaching the United defence twice in a 5-2 defeat and that will give The Saints hope off netting later on.

Hasenhüttl’s outfit have managed to score in four of their last five Premier League matches and boast one of the league’s current most on-song players in Danny Ings. The former Liverpool man has beaten the goalkeeper on 19 occasions from 34 appearances in the Premier League this season and has scored four times in five outings since the restart.

Given the impressive success both teams have had in front of goal of late, it’s easy to see why I fancy Both Teams to Score tonight.

Man United to score in both halves

I’ve already impressed upon you how good The Red Devils have been in the goalscoring stakes of late, and pleasingly for their supporters, United’s attack doesn’t seem to mind when they score them.

Solskjaer’s side have netted in both the first and second half in each of their last three Premier League games and, what’s even more assuring for this selection, they also managed to do so in their previous five home games in all competitions.

To me, that makes Man United to score in both halves looks like a pretty good investment for tonight’s Monday Night Football and it is worth considering for your betslip.
