Odds tumble on Guardiola’s Pepxit with Man City’s day of reckoning on the horizon

Finally, something to get excited about. Will Manchester City, the team that have spent billions to win the thing, be banned from the Champions League or not?

We’re supposedly about to find out for definite next week with the Court of Arbitration for Sport set to deliver their verdict on whether UEFA’S two-year Champions League ban for City is sticking, being reduced or maybe even scrapped altogether.

And with that day of reckoning on the horizon, we’ve seen the odds of boss Pep Guardiola leaving City take a tumble. He’s now as short as 7/4 to leave City this summer while Mauricio Pochettino is favourite to replace him and Barcelona is Guardiola’s most-likely next destination.

We also make it 6/4 that Pep Guardiola’s side fail to win their appeal and be banned from European football for the next two years. However, we think there will be some leniency and think it’s even more likely for that ban to be reduced to just a year at 4/5.

They’re now out to 8/1 to win their appeal and avoid a ban and a lengthy 50/1 to win their appeal and then go on to lift next year’s Champions League trophy. Those short odds on an appeal loss have also impacted other markets and helped the shortening on a Pepxit.

And, with Kevin de Bruyne previously stating that the ban could impact his future at the club, it’s rated 8/1 that he leaves if the ban’s upheld, with Real Madrid rated 3/1 favourites ahead of Barcelona 4/1 to sign him.

The ban could well spell the end of Pep’s time at the club as well as that of star player De Bruyne. The good news, though, is that they’re still second-favourites to win this year’s trophy regardless.
