Both Bournemouth and Spurs are in need of three points for different reasons ahead of this evening’s clash at the Vitality Stadium. But they do have one thing in common – they are both out of sorts.
It’s nine games since the Cherries last tasted victory, a winless streak that goes back to February 1st, and even that success came against an Aston Villa side who find themselves sitting alongside Bournemouth in the relegation zone. Their only other win in 2020 came at home to Brighton, so that tells you exactly where they’re at right now.
For Spurs, their season has never really taken off, and while they don’t have the worries of Premier League safety on their plate, they’ve been very inconsistent this season. Two wins in their last three games have helped lift the spirits within the squad and the Vitality Stadium is a place they’ve done well in over the years.
Saying that, just three of their 13 league wins this season have come on the road and they nearly blew a three-goal lead against the Cherries back in November. Spurs have been more fragile at the back this season too and only once in the league have they kept a clean sheet away from home.
In saying that however, Spurs have a huge advantage here in that they’re playing Bournemouth at the perfect time and Jose Mourinho’s men should be good enough to win this. But given that it’s unlikely to be pretty, a Spurs win and both teams to score is probably the safest option.
Harry Kane has been Spurs’ only goalscorer in their last three games but whether he’s in form or not, he’s always the go-to man when predicting who’ll get on the scoresheet. But Spurs have so many other options and while Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura have been more to the forefront, Steven Bergwijn is slowly finding his feet at his new club.
In just seven starts since his move from PSV in January, he’s found the net three times. He’s impressed at various stages and he looks a player who can easily expose the frailties of the Bournemouth back four. If you’re looking to back somebody to score here, he could be excellent value to find the net.

With respect to both Everton and Southampton, they’ve probably been the two hardest teams to work out since the start of the season.
Toffees fans will tell you that they’ve been frustrating to follow for many a season now but yet, they’ve held Man Utd twice this season, got a recent draw against Liverpool and beat likely Champions League participants Leicester City. Still, they find themselves in 11th position in the table, just one point ahead of tonight’s opponents.
Southampton have turned their season around in no uncertain terms since that miserable massacre at the hands of Leicester in October. Ralph Hasenhuttl has got them out of a relegation battle and despite home losses to Burney and Newcastle in 2020, they’ll be full of confidence heading to Goodison Park having beaten Man City on Sunday.
The last three head-to-heads at tonight’s venue has seen both teams finding the net and Southampton have scored on their last four trips on the road in all competitions. Given that both sides have nothing to fear over the coming weeks, there’s no reason to suggest that this game won’t produce plenty of goals. That makes the both teams to score option the way to go.
As well as goals at both ends when these teams have matched up in recent seasons, there’s been one other trend in this fixture: a Danny Ings goal.
In three of the last four clashes between the sides, the Englishman has found the back of the net and he did just that in both of his trips to Goodison Park last season, once in the league and the other in the FA Cup. Throw into the mix that he’s scored three goals in his last four starts, all away from home, and he’s the man to back in the goalscorer markets for this evening’s tussle.
