Football Tips: A 5/1 double delight to make it a super Sunday in the Bundesliga

A delicious double from Deutschland.

Sunday sees the Bundesliga returning to the more traditional two matches as Mainz host Augsburg and Schalke take on Bayer Leverkusen. Mainz and Augsburg have been flirting dangerously with the drop zone since the restart and both could do with the win here to drag themselves away from possible relegation.

Schalke entertain Leverkusen and have been nothing short of awful since the restart, while the away side are in a battle for the final Champions League place. There’s a lot to play for, for all involved. Let’s see where there’s some value in the markets.

2.30pm – Mainz vs Augsburg: Draw and Both Teams to Score

Both teams here have won just one match since the campaign restarted. They’ve both drawn two and lost two as well. They’ve both even failed to score in two matches. For Mainz it’s a little worse than for Augsburg as the home side have failed to score in both of their home matches, Augsburg scored three away to Schalke but failed to score any against Hertha Berlin.

These matches tend to be fairly entertaining though, over the last five meetings at the Opel Arena four out of five have ended with Over 2.5 goals and Both Teams to Score has occurred in four out of five as well.

Mainz are averaging 1.0 goals per game at home this season and conceding 1.80, Augsburg on their travels in the league are also averaging 1.0 goals per game but are conceding 2.20.

There’s very little between the sides here and with home advantage all but eroded without any home support at the stadium this should end all square. The draw price has fallen but we can add BTTS to it for nicer odds.

5pm: Schalke vs Bayer Leverkusen: Leverkusen to Win

Schalke have been such a disappointment since the restart, chalking up just one point from a possible 15, scoring just three goals and conceding 11. Bayer have won three and lost two, one of which was to Bayern Munich though, so you can’t really fault them there. They’re currently in the first Europa League place but a win could see them overtake Borussia Monchengladbach as they play away at Bayern on Saturday evening.

The away side have won four out of five previous meetings at the Veltins Arena with both Over 2.5 goals and BTTS landing in three of five. Schalke’s luck has to change soon but Bayer are so strong on the road that we can’t really see it happening here. The away side have only lost one of their last eight on the road in the league, while the home side have won just two of their last eight at home. We’re backing Bayer Leverkusen to win here.

Both of these picks in a Double will give you odds of over 5/1 with Paddy Power.
