Transfer Odds: Price shortens on Chelsea nabbing Liverpool target Werner

Now we’re all Bundesliga experts, the whole world is talking about Timo Werner, who has been in explosive goal-scoring form since the return of German football.

And it’s not just ITK lads on Twitter who have taken note – Europe’s biggest clubs have been linked with the RB Leipzig forward.

Until recently, Werner was odds-on to join Liverpool, with the move presumed done – Werner himself bold enough to scoff at rumoured interest from Bayern Munich. Oops.

But, with Liverpool said to be cooling on the idea of paying Werner’s release clause, Paddy Power have installed a new favourite in his ‘next club’ market – Chelsea.

The Blues are now 5/4 to sign the German international, with Liverpool drifting from 1/3 to 13/8 over the course of this week. Bayern Munich are distant third-favourites at 10/1.

Our own star striker Paddy Power said: “I’d just accepted that Werner was moving to Liverpool but, actually, Chelsea would make sense.

“While Jurgen Klopp has his famed front three to rely on for goals, Frank Lampard has been cycling between Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud – there’s a clear opening for Werner at Chelsea.”
