Football tips: Our trader’s best bets for RB Leipzig v Hertha Berlin on Wednesday

This will be a tasty one on Wednesday evening.

This an interesting one as a lot people will be looking at Leipzig’s 5-0 win against Mainz last Sunday and will be backing them on the back of that result.

But, I actually believe Hertha Berlin (+1) at 23/10 represents a bit of value here. Hertha Berlin have looked good since the lockdown period winning both of their games. They won 3-0 away to Hoffenhaim and beat Union in the Berlin Derby 4-0.

Interestingly, in both of their games so far it was 0-0 at half-time. But, fitness was a key factor and Hertha boss Bruno Labbadia, to his credit, has his players very fit. He’s actually Hertha’s fourth manager of the season believe it or not. They’ve obviously had a lot of trouble, but he seems to be the one to have steadied the ship and he has got his players in great condition post lockdown.

Hertha should be able to stay with their host and Leipzig feel a bit short for me. The home side will have a monopoly on the possession and will try to pull and drag the opposition, but the Hertha players should be well able to keep up with them.

In terms of an anytime goalscorer, I wouldn’t talk you out of backing Timo Werner (who is 21/10 for the first goal) in this market at 1/2. He hit a hat-trick last Sunday and has been linked with a big money move to Liverpool in the past few months.

He could actually be perfect for Liverpool too and has a buyout clause of £52m that expires in the middle of June. If Liverpool don’t act before then they’ll have to pay a lot more for him.

For my own selection, I’m going to go with a Hertha Berlin player though. Matheus Cunha is the one I like here at 7/2. The Brazilian striker has netted four goals in his last four games and turns 21 this week.

He is averaging over five shots per game since signing for Hertha in January.

He actually came from Leipzig, so I’m sure he’ll have a point to prove too.

If you watched the Berlin derby last Friday night you would have been impressed. He was electric anytime he got on the ball.

RB Leipzig v Hertha Berlin tips summary:

Hertha Berlin (+1) @ 23/10
Matheus Cunha to score anytime at 7/2
