Newcastle are expected to splash the cash of the controversial takeover of the club gets over the line – and it seems two faces familiar to English crowds could be first through the entrance door at St James’ Park.
The Magpies are set to be bought by the Saudi Arabia sovereign wealth fund, although the Premier League have raised some concerns regarding piracy. Human rights breaches, it seems, less of an issue.
There’s been a lot of talk about which mega-stars they could sign, like when Man City landed Robinho – but the true success of City was building the core of the squad.
And our traders expect the Toon to go the same way with Aston Villa midfield maestro John McGinn and Magpies favourite Salomon Rondon among the shortest-price players for a move to the north-east.
McGinn and former Newcastle forward Salomon Rondon are considered most likely to be signed (both 11/4), ahead of Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal (5/1), and controversial Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos (11/2).
Some of Europe’s biggest names also feature prominently in the betting, with Gareth Bale and Edinson Cavani (both 6/1) each out of favour at Real Madrid and PSG respectively.
Perhaps a bigger statement, though, would be pipping the Premier League big boys to the highly-rated RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.
Champions-elect Liverpool (4/9) are odds-on to sign the German goal-machine, with Newcastle rated at 9/1 to land him.
It’s bad news for boss Steve Bruce though. Despite potentially having all that talent at his disposal, we now make it odds-on (10/11) that Mauricio Pochettino’s next job is as Newcastle manager.
The 11 Newcastle transfers our traders think are most likely to happen
It's safe to say an upgrade on Joelinton looks to be a priority.
