Liverpool paid the ultimate price as they exited the Champions League with a dramatic extra-time defeat by Atletico Madrid in the last 16.

Followers of the self-proclaimed ‘European Royalty’ have not been heard of since and rival supporters are increasingly worried.

When last seen they were wearing ill-fitting replica Liverpool shirts and paraphernalia related to previous European conquests which they may have mentioned once or twice previously.

One gloating Manchester United supporter made a heartfelt emotional appeal on Facebook this morning, begging Liverpool fans to get in touch.

‘Please, if you can see this, just let us know you’re ok?’, wrote United fan Olly Hucknall. ‘No one’s angry with you, we just want you back on our newsfeeds so we can rip the piss out of you’, he added.

Chief Inspector Bill Peeler of the Facebook Police said:

‘Liverpool fans have been missing since the evening of March 11th and the more time goes by, the more ridiculous you look’.

‘They are well known in the comments section of articles pertaining to the defeats of other English sides, particularly those of Manchester United and Everton’.

‘I would urge anyone who may have seen a person fitting a Liverpool fan’s description to give them stick’.

‘You’re only making it f**king worse for yourselves lads’, he added.

Meanwhile, Liverpool FC have announced their famous anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ will become ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone Unless You Make a Goalkeeping Howler. Then You Can F**k Off’ with immediate effect.

Liverpool supporters’ groups were less than enthused by the move:

‘It’s even less catchy than Karius’, remarked a spokesperson.
