Spurs go into the second leg needing goals to go through. Time to have a go?

Tottenham Hotspur v RB Leipzig - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: First Leg

Tuesday night sees Spurs away to RB Leipzig in a game that will pretty much decide how their season will be judged. Can Jose Mourinho’s side pull off the near-impossible and get into the quarter-finals? Valencia too have a mountain to climb and need to score three unanswered goals to draw level. Will we see miracles on Tuesday night?

RB Leipzig vs Spurs: Leipzig to Win & BTTS – 9/4

RB Leipzig haven’t lost a match at home since early in October, a run of 11 matches that has seen them win seven and score a healthy 32 goals. Spurs’ glimmer of hope here is that Leipzig don’t particularly seem to care much for defending. Over those 11 matches they conceded 11 goals. If Spurs can draw first blood here we could be in for a belter of a match.

In their last five away matches though, Spurs have scored first in only one. When looking at Leipzig’s five most recent home matches they’ve only opened the scoring in one match, a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen, in all of the other four matches they had to come from behind to goals all scored by the opposition in the first 30 minutes.

Of course, Jose and his backroom staff are going to know this and they’re going to encourage the team to get forward, take the game to Leipzig and try and score first against a side who are obviously slow to get out of the traps. Spurs though haven’t won since beating Aston Villa on February 16th, thanks to a last-minute Son Heung-Min goal.

Since then they’ve lost to Leipzig, Chelsea, Wolves, Norwich on penalties and could only draw with Burnley last weekend. They should score but Leipzig’s record at home is immense, so we’re backing Leipzig to Win and BTTS at 9/4.

Valencia vs Atalanta: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals – 8/13

Valencia need to box clever and hope everything goes right here. Since losing the first leg 4-1, they’ve had three matches where they’ve lost one, drawn one and won one. For Atalanta, thanks to the ongoing health scare in Italy, they’ve only played one match, a 2-7 win over Lecce, and will have had nine days off to prepare for this match.

The Spanish side’s home record is good though, as they’re unbeaten in their last four at the Mestalla, winning three and drawing one. They don’t tend to keep many clean sheets though, of their last five they’ve kept two, of their last 15, just four. Their home matches see plenty of goals though, three of five have seen Over 2.5 goals, as have nine of `15.

Atalanta on the road are formidable. Of their last five they’ve lost only one, winning three and drawing one. Of their last 15, they’ve lost just four times and have scored at least a goal in 13 of 15 matches. Also, four of the last five Atalanta away games have seen Over 2.5 goals landing, and 12 of their last 15 have been the same.

With both teams in good goalscoring form and Valencia needing to go for broke here we’re backing Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals at 8/13.

Both of these picks into a Double will give you odds of over 4/1

Leipzig to win & BTTS – 9/4

Valencia v Atalanta: BTTS & Over 2.5 goals
