As I’m going to this game between two probable youth teams at Stamford Bridge – for the sum of £85 – I promise you this betting preview won’t be me picking exactly what I want to happen in the game, but if you find any sort of bias towards potential entertainment, feel free to pelt me as you wish.

However, Frank Lampard has a very strong record in this competition as a player, and Liverpool are still chasing a treble.

They also need an answer after their mishap on their last trip to London.

Actually, is Watford really in London? It’s more of a junction en route to the Harry Potter studios?

Chelsea to Win (5/4)

I don’t know if the shellshock is over for Liverpool yet, but the mentality monster has been made look like more of a clown under the bed, cowering from the outside world.

It does make me wonder, though – does Klopp go more practical now and rest key players? It’s fine for Chelsea, as this is their one shot at a trophy now. But Liverpool can probably afford to give this a miss.

If Chelsea play a host of younger players, they’ll probably be the ones who are getting a tonne of time in the Premier League anyway, while Liverpool could be a combination of first-team players and those kids who struggled to get past Shrewsbury at the second attempt.

I suppose the odds reflect this, but I do think 5/4 is generous given the home side are the more likely to be fielding proven pros.

Over 3.5 Goals (7/4)

You don’t often get this short of a price for a game to have four goals or more, but it’s probably a fair look at how this game will go.

We’ve seen that Chelsea can’t defend. We’ve seen that the only way to beat Liverpool is by signing Troy Deeney – but if that fails, to attack them with other players – and we absolutely know the last thing either of these teams want is an extra 30 minutes and the character test that penalties bring.

Not for me, Bill, as a famous pundit used to say.

Expect goals here – and plenty of them.

Ross Barkley – Anytime Assist (7/2)

He’s one of the more likely starters in this team, as Lampard will go for a really attacking side.

Jorginho likely holds and allows him to wander forward and link up with a pacey front three. This gives him ample opportunity to slide in any of them, with Liverpool undoubtedly playing a high line on a tight pitch.

He’s not quite the Wayne Rooney clone that everyone expected, but he should be good enough to pick these apart given their current mindset.
