Football betting tips: 5/1 gets it done for this Wolves v Leicester treble

Friday night football. Oh yes.

Brendan Rodgers

Wolves to win @ 6/4

While Leicester enjoy a healthy buffer over fifth-placed Sheffield United, their place in next season’s Champions League is by no means guaranteed.

A convincing win over struggling West Ham aside, Brendan Rodgers’ men are beginning to stutter. They conceded two extremely soft goals against Chelsea last time out and could have been further behind before they staged a second half comeback.

Wolves, on the other hand, were excellent in defeat against Liverpool and extremely rigid at Old Trafford in a scoreless draw with Manchester United. They looked in danger of burning out after an overloaded schedule, so the break should have done them the world of good and they could close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea with a win on Friday night.

Over 2.5 goals @ EVS

Neither of these teams has been particularly watertight at the back in their recent Premier League outings.

Leicester have kept just one clean sheet in their last ten games, despite having the third-best defensive record in the league. The concession of two headed goals in the aforementioned draw with Chelsea was amateurish and they don’t look anywhere near as solid as they did in the opening half of the season.

There was the obvious capitulation at home to Liverpool on Boxing Day and there was also the concession of two goals against both Southampton and Burnley in January to add to the growing worry that Leicester are not as miserly as they once were.

Wolves, meanwhile, have surprisingly managed just five league clean sheets all season – one of them against Leicester. While they were solid defensively against Manchester United last time out, a clean sheet against Manchester United is not exactly something to write home about.

Wolves have been sloppy defensively at various points in 2020 and have already conceded two goals in three separate league games this year.

It feels like both teams will score. Both have failed to find the net on three occasions this season – against Liverpool, Manchester United and in the reverse fixture of this game – and it seems as though Wolves will need to score twice if they are to win.

Raul Jimenez to score anytime @ 17/10

The Mexican forward is easily Wolves’ most prolific striker.

With 11 goals to his name, and five in his last eight, he is undoubtedly their best bet to find the net on Friday night.

Even in the scoreless draw with Manchester United two weeks ago, Jimenez was a menace and caused havoc in the United defence.

Against Liverpool, it was his terrific header that hauled Wolves level against the runaway league leaders, while his two-goal return at Southampton helped Wolves snatch an unlikely return.

He is a handful for every defence he plays against and is crucial to Wolves’ push for a top-four finish and their bid to go into the business end of the Europa League.

With Jamie Vardy struggling for form in 2020, Jimenez is the safest pick from either side to find the back of the net.
