Football betting odds: A tasty treble on Tuesday’s FA Cup replays

Kloppo won't be there, but it's still a surprise to see Liverpool odds-against at home versus Shrewsbury.

Jurgen Klopp Liverpool manager

Birmingham v Coventry – Double Chance, Coventry & Draw (4/6)

Tuesday 19:45

This game has come at an appalling time for Birmingham City and Pep Clotet as they’re live on telly on Friday night.

That’s poor form in two different senses: it’s obviously difficult to play two games in the space of four days, but it’s also entirely possible that the British public will get to watch you play football twice, too – so you can’t write off the fact you’re rubbish as a once-off.

As much as you’d not like to be beaten by the team currently renting out your ground, it matters very little in the grand scheme of things, and Birmingham will rest players.

Back Coventry with a little bit of insurance.

Derby County v Northampton – Derby County (4/11)

Tuesday 19:45

Not so long ago. Phillip Cocu’s career was on the ropes and it seemed like he’d be sacked.

Last week, they strutted to a 4-0 win over Stoke, and that’s not any old Stoke – it’s the new, hard-hitting, uber-organised Mick O’Neill unit that’s making a delayed promotion push.

There’s a sense that, finally, things are working out for the Rams and they’ll have to try and carry some momentum into the summer to ensure they’re attractive enough to potential purchases that will allow them to shoot up the table come next year and give the fans the run at promotion that they expected this year.

All good things come to those who wait – or at least that’s what the chairman will tell you before you renew your season ticket.

Liverpool v Shrewsbury – Liverpool (11/10)

Tuesday 19:45

I don’t care if Liverpool want to wheel out the team that last won the English top tier; they’re playing Shrewsbury at home in a flat atmosphere on a much bigger pitch than the opposition are comfortable with.

As much as we’d all love Klopp to get a slap for saying he won’t even attend this match, there’s only going to be one outcome and I find it bizarre, especially as they went 2-0 up in the original tie, that they’re odds-against.

It’s hard to pass the chance up of taking Liverpool, whether it be their first team, all-time XI, legends exhibition side, previous managers five-a-side team or just Phil Thompson in his swimsuit – at odds-against – against Shrewsbury.

The only downside is that you’ll probably have to watch it now.
