Man United vs Brighton: Man United to win and Martial to score anytime – 17/10
Their defeat to Crystal Palace aside, Manchester United have actually been quite good at Old Trafford this season.
United took Chelsea apart on the opening day of the season and they drew with both Liverpool and Arsenal at home. They would have won both games were it not for defensive lapses in the second half of each.
Their performance on Thursday night against Partizan Belgrade was full of pace and invention and, although it was only Partizan Belgrade, it seemed like United had found something of a groove.
The equation is simple for the Red Devils. If Anthony Martial is fit, they are a completely different team. He offers something that Marcus Rashford simply does not; a calmness and ruthlessness in front of goal.
The Frenchman’s link up with Rashford also completely changes the dynamic of United’s attacks and the struggling club have looked too hot to handle in games against Norwich and Partizan, when both frontmen have been on it.
Sunday’s opponents Brighton have enjoyed an excellent start to the season under Graham Potter and actually find themselves above United in the league table. However, That is primarily down to home form, as the Seagulls have failed to win each of their last five league games on the road since hammering lowly Watford on the opening day of the season.
United should get a much-needed tonic on Sunday afternoon and Martial should be the one to provide it.
Wolves v Aston Villa: Wolves to win – 5/6
Wolves will look to avenge their recent League Cup defeat to their neighbours in Sunday’s derby.
The Midlands club enjoyed yet another last gasp winner in Europe on Thursday and now appear to be dead certainties to reach the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Sunday’s game should be a completely different affair to that League Cup tie, as Nuno Espirito Santo will surely field a much stronger team in a far more important game.
Whether it is because of fixture congestion or otherwise, Wolves have made a stuttering start to their Premier League campaign and find themselves in the bottom half, only two points ahead of their newly-promoted neighbours.
But, a win on Sunday could propel them as far as the top seven and give them a huge boost going into the international break.
They should get it too. Villa’s away form has been torrid this season and, but for a convincing win against a poor Norwich side that doesn’t know how to defend, they have lost every game on their travels since they won promotion to the Premier League.
It should be a home win to kickstart Wolves’ season.
