Burnley v Chelsea: He’s not called the Ginger Mourinho for nothing! Back Burnley

Three wins at home with only one loss (to Liverpool) - the Clarets aren't easy to beat

I never thought I would like a manager that doesn’t play Guardiola type football but I have a soft spot for Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

When it comes to expected goals (XG) Burnley are a complete anomaly. In the 2017/18 league season Burnley finished 17th on XG but finished 7th in the league. At the moment they currently sit in 14th on the XG table this season yet they are in the top half!

It’s all down to Sean Dyche! He has a squad of average players but they all know what their job is and work their socks off for the team. With this squad, just staying in the league is an achievement and it looks again like they will overachieve this season.

They’ve started the season well and you can see a real progression from previous years, Dyche has opted this season to play with two strikers.

Wood and Barnes have built up a good partnership and it’s pretty clear this season that they are playing more attacking football.

They are averaging over half a shot on target more this season than in the 18/19 season. With this in mind, I wouldn’t be running out to back Chelsea this weekend and would advise probably keeping them out of your acca.

Similarly to Dyche, Lampard really got the best out of Derby last season. In last season’s Championship Derby were expected to finish 14th based on expected goals and they narrowly lost in the playoff final to Villa.

With the transfer ban and losing Hazard to Madrid it looked like this would be a transitional season for Lampard at Chelsea but he really is proving that he is a decent manager. He is blessed with lots of good young talent and maybe the transfer ban was a blessing in disguise as it allowed him to give the youth a chance.

Last season Mason Mount was one of the best players in the Championship but I didn’t think he was ready for the Premier League but he has proven me wrong. He is so intelligent on the ball and makes deep runs into the box – very like his manager used to do! It’s definitely an exciting time to be a Chelsea fan, something that looked very unlikely at the start of the season.

Burnley’s home form this season has been brilliant, they’ve won three and have only lost to Liverpool. It’s going to be a tough day for Chelsea and Burnley not to lose the game looks a bet to me at EVEN money but I wouldn’t put anyone off taking the 7/2 in the match odds either!

Sean Dyche doesn’t do us gingers any favours in the looks department but when it comes to football I F**KIN LOVE HIM!
