Dublin delight: Irish punter lands over €11,000 on €2 acca

David de Gea gave him a big helping hand.

He needed a 93rd-minute strike to do it, but one of our punters was laughing all the way to the bank on Saturday, all thanks to Patrick van Aanholt.

That’s because when the Crystal Palace full-back popped up to give The Eagles their first ever Premier League victory at Old Trafford, it helped the Dublin-based punter net over €11,000 on his Saturday acca.

Our winner had to wait on Liverpool’s game with Arsenal later in the evening to confirm his winnings, but he resisted to the urge to cash out and when the Reds stormed to victory, his windfall was confirmed.

In total, our victor picked an impressive six away wins and Liverpool’s 3-1 home success over Arsenal in his €2 bet slip.

His seven-fold also correctly predicted wins for Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Reading, West Ham and Leicester on the day. But, it has to be said he’s most impressive calls came in picking Palace and Forest before kick-off, as he got them at whopping prices of 17/2 and 9/2 respectively.

All must’ve seemed lost when Daniel James grabbed an 89th-minute equaliser for Man United and celebrated as if he’d just won the Premier League for the club, but he has got van Aanholt and David de Gea’s weak wrists to thank for his amazing win.

He beat odds of 5,645/1 to land the loot and his total prize pot came in €11,292.

That’s not to be sniffed at!
