Rival fans bracing themselves to hear about Istanbul until 2035

Supporters of Liverpool FC are prepared to launch another fifteen years of Istanbul stories after their UEFA Super Cup victory, it has emerged.

Just whenever everyone thought the Scousers had milked the teat of their famous 2005 Champions League Final victory dry, along comes another dramatic European shootout win in the Turkish city.

The Reds won the European Charity Shield for the fourth time in their history by beating Chelsea 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Despite the fact nearly all Liverpool fans would have dismissed the game as a ‘sh*te, meaningless friendly’ had they lost, a victory ensures last night’s game will be etched into Anfield folklore.

46-year-old Liverpool fan Paul Lennon has watched the second half of Liverpool’s 2005 Champions League final comeback against AC Milan 2,761 times since January.

‘I don’t know if you’re aware, coz hardly anyone around here talks about it anymore, but we came back from three-nil down at half-time to beat Milan in the Champions League final’, said Paul.

‘The fans should mention it more often because that sort of achievement deserves a bit of recognition’.

Paul also believes last night’s victory over Chelsea eclipses the team’s exploits in 2005.

‘It’s the biggest prize in club football, in my opinion. It’s not just a European Cup, it’s a SUPER European Cup’.

‘And anything with the word ‘super’ before instantly makes it like a million times better’.

‘For example: The Super Bowl; Super Drug; Super Glue; Street Fighter II and Superfly Jimmy Snuka’.

‘Yes, they’ll be talking about this one for years to come’.

Manchester United fan, Ian Gallagher, expects Liverpool fans to be dining out on yesterday’s result until at least 2035.

‘We’re still hearing about the Milan game and that was almost bloody fifteen years ago’, barked Gallagher.

‘I mean, we won The Treble in ’99 and with the exception of the commemorative jersey, the pre-season legends game against Bayern and the MUTV Specials, you hardly hear us mention it’.

Chelsea supporter, Jimmy Suggs, is dreading the inevitable arse-ripping celebration that accompanies a Liverpool victory in Europe.

‘I remember we won the Champions League in 2012. We’ve barely mentioned it since, even though it was probably the greatest night in our fifteen-year history’, recalled Jimmy.

In other news, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been approached by Sylvester Stallone to appear in the upcoming Creed III after the German’s impromptu ‘Rocky’ impression on the pitch last night.
