Andre Villas-Boas has been reinstated as the bookies’ favourite for the Celtic job – after Paddy Power chopped his odds from 16/1 to 6/5.
It puts him ahead of David Moyes (7/2) in the market, who is on equal footing incumbent with Neil Lennon (7/2).
With Steve Clarke, as expected, being confirmed as Scotland boss yesterday, and Rafa Benitez (17/2) appearing to edge toward renewing his deal at Newcastle, Villas-Boas appears to have a clear run at the Celtic Park vacancy.
Asked about the job at Parkhead spokesman Paddy Power said: “Celtic look set to go from someone who thinks they’re cool, in a David Brent way, in Brendan Rodgers, to a manager who really is cool.
“This would be Villas-Boas’s first job in management after taking time out to embark on a rallying career. And it could be just the rallying cry his new club needs to get to ten titles in a row. Which I’m not sure anyone has mentioned over the past 12 months.”
