Claude Puel’s time at Leicester has come to an end this morning as he was shown the door at the King Power Stadium after 17 months in charge.
Yesterday’s embarrassing defeat to Crystal Palace was the final straw for Leicester’s owners, as the Frenchman was relieved of his duties in the wake of a 4-1 trouncing at home.
Despite pressure on his post before Christmas, magnificent victories over Man City, Chelsea and Everton looked to have righted the ship for Puel. However, an utterly dire couple of months since the turn of the year has seen him presented with his walking papers.
Score your Premier League punts at PaddyPower.comThoughts now turn to the next man to manage Jamie Vardy, Harry Maguire Co, and we make Celtic supremo Brendan Rodgers the clear favourite at 7/5.
The former Liverpool gaffer is currently on the hunt for his third Scottish title in-a-row and may be tempted by the higher level of talent on offer at the Foxes. Next on the list is Michael Appleton (5/2), who took charge of Leicester on a caretaker basis for two games before Puel took charge.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche follows him at 6/1, while Newcastle’s Rafa Benítez (7/1) might make the move to Leicester just because he will at least have some money to spend there.
