Footie punter lands Hall of Fame spot by turning £1 into over £25,000

Places in our Punting Hall of Fame are hard earned and one customer from Scotland kicked the bloody doors down to get into it last weekend…

There’s nothing punters love more than keeping an eye on their speculative £1-acca on the weekend’s football and one of our customers from Scotland landed a huge fish at the weekend.

Our winner, who hails from Kirkcaldy in Fife, beat enormous odds of 25,992/1 to land himself close to £26,000 after his final two legs on his 20-fold accumulator came in on Sunday.

That’s only half the story though, as our new Hall of Famer needed THREE injury time winners for his whopping bet to come in.

As the minutes ticked down on Saturday’s ties our Scottish victor still needed Tottenham, Clyde and Az Alkmaar to find winning goals. His mood would have been lifted when Christian Eriksen found a 91st minute decider for Spurs and then a minute later John Rankin netted for Clyde to secure three points in their Scottish League Two tie.

All seemed lost though as the full times rolled in, but in the 94th minute Bjorn Johnsen helped our winner along the way by netting to give Alkmaar a 2-1 success over Excelsior in the Dutch Eredivisie.

To add to his luck, Ross County scored twice in the second half away to Scottish Championship leaders Ayr to seal a 3-3 draw, after being 3-1 at half-time.

With 18 legs in the bag on Saturday our punter resisted the urge to cash out and needed both teams to score in the Premier League’s Brighton v Chelsea and Southampton v Arsenal matches on Sunday.

The Saints and The Gunners did their part early, with goals from Danny Ings and Henrikh Mkhitaryan respectively inside 28 minutes. Pedro had Chelsea on the board just after the quarter of an hour mark at the Amex Stadium, so all that was left on the hit-list was a goal from The Seagulls.

Thankfully, that came after 66 minutes when Solly March delivered a hell of an early Christmas present when he scored Brighton’s consolation on the day.

All in all, our victor’s 20-leg punt included two Italian games, two in La Liga, four from England, a single Bundesliga tie, three in the Dutch top tier and an amazing EIGHT from our customer’s native Scotland to score himself a wondrous windfall of £25,993.

What a bet!
