While Liverpool fans were wondering who they should hate more in the Manchester Derby yesterday, they at least had Mo Salah to thank for making them give a very big sh*t on the outcome.
Not only did the Eygyptian King’s 41st minute opener against Fulham send Liverpool to the top of the table for about five minutes, it also meant unbridled joy for thousands of Paddy Power punters who backed the bearded to score against the Premier League’s struggling newbies.
And while Salah is not quite at least season’s onion-bag busting level of greatness, his six goals in 12 games games isn’t too shabby, as we confine the first third of the season to the recycle bin.
But for every hero, there must be a villain, and this week Harry Edward Kane should look behind him.
Juan Foyth gave away two penalties last week for Spurs in their 3-2 win against Wolves, but produced his own heroics against Crystal Palace when getting the only goal of the game in Tottenham’s 1-0 win.
What was good news for the Argentine and the manager who kept faith in him, was not-so-good news for the legion of Harry Kane goalscorer backers, as the England striker was left playing the extra role, to Foyth’s leading man performance.
With a home fixture against Chelsea up next for Spurs and a trip to the Emirates for the North London derby immediately afterwards, Kane needs to rediscover his goal touch sharpish during the international break. For Spurs’ fans and Paddy Power goal-scorer backers!
