UEFA Nations League: Ireland can exorcise Danish demons in our 11/2 treble

The Nations League has raised some ghosts for Ireland long before we were all ready for them, but maybe they can be cast out with a good performance...

Ireland v Denmark: Both Teams to Score – 11/10

We’ve worked through the hours of counselling, the night terrors, the flashbacks, and just when it feels like we can start playing football again, it’s Denmark back in Dublin!

God help us.

Well, maybe not. Though the 5-1 did expose some deficiencies in our team and their management, it was also a game where everything was on the line, so losing 2-1 or 5-1 made little difference to the bottom line.

It’s cast a cloud over the Republic – no, that’s not just Storm Callum battering us – but things may not be quite as bad as recent results suggest.

There’s not confusing about PAddyPower.com’s football odds

Martin O’Neill’s squad is looking slightly healthier now than a month ago when Wales ripped them to shreds. Crucially, Denmark are without their star player Christian Eriksen here, responsible for three of those five goals in November 2017.

Ireland showed against Poland they have some pride and can play a bit. We’d fancy a scoring draw in this one, so both teams to score appeals at 11/10.

Netherlands v Germany: Under 2.5 Goals – 11/10

Both of these proud footballing nations are working through a rough patch at the moment – though for Germany, not being the best team in the world counts as a disappointment, so it’s all relative.

For the Dutch, they must look at their great rival’s team and wish they had such problems.

Ronald Koeman has taken the reins of the national team after a desperate four years where they failed to qualify for both Euro 2016 and the Russian World Cup.

They’ve tightened up defensively and earned some creditable results under his charge – 3-0 v Portugal, a 2-1 win over Peru and a draw with Italy – and they lost to the French in their opening Nations League game, but by just the odd goal in three.

Germany drew with France in theirs, and could’ve won as they were piling on the pressure in the second half. In the first, they were lucky not to find themselves down two or three.

Jogi Loew’s side are still fragile after a massive flop at the World Cup. We’d expect this to be a tough affair, and a low-scoring result should be in the offing.

Norway v Slovenia: Norway – 8/15

A four-game winning run in friendlies against Austria, Albania, Iceland and Panama set the Norwegians up nicely for their opening 2-0 win over Cyprus last month before they hit the skids a little in a 1-0 away defeat to Bulgaria.

Slovenia’s last point came in a 2-2 draw with Scotland in their World Cup group 12 months ago in a game they led until two minutes from time.

It’s all gone a bit Pete Tong for Slovenia since then with only one friendly win in three (away to Montenegro) and two losses in their opening games of Group x at home to Bulgaria (1-2) and away to Cyprus (2-1).

Norway are ranked about nine places higher than their opponents on Saturday and coupled with their recent form at home look a play 8/15 in the win-draw-win market. the game kicks off at 5.00pm, so make sure you get on our treble early.
