While we all try to live the dream with a footy accumulator – we’re pretty certain this is the first time we’ve seen a 666/1 double landed in the United Soccer League (USL).
On the over 6.5 goals market!
One canny punter from Co. Waterford decided to bypass the English leagues’ Saturday-fest and head Stateside for his weekend trixie (three doubles & one treble) that netted him €3,334 for a €20 stake – despite one leg coming unstuck.
First up was an eight-goal thriller on Saturday between North Carolina FC & Charlotte Independence that saw the home side run out 6-2 winners to reward our over 6.5 goals maestro at odds of 40/1.

He then had to sit and suffer as the villains of the piece, Richmond Kickers and Louisville City FC, could only manage a measly SIX goals between them, with the visitors running out 6-0 winners.
You can just picture our intrepid punter screaming at the tellybox from the 82nd minute for someone to put it in the onion bag and bring him to a magic seventh goal.
However, despite that Saturday disappointment, it still proved to be a Super Sunday in the Deise.
Charlestown Battery and the New York Red Bulls II played out a 4-4 draw at 33/1 to leave this incredibly shrewd – or extremely lucky – punter pocketing €3,334 for his twenty quid. Not bad!
What might have been if the Richmond Kickers or Louisville City FC hadn’t gone goalless for those last eight minutes to bring up his trixie!
