Five deleted scenes that didn’t make it to Man City’s documentary

1. JOE HART KEEPS TURNING UP TO TRAINING

Despite being sent out on loan, Joe Hart shows up at training eagerly clutching his gloves and has to be told he isn’t wanted.

As Hart’s bottom lip starts to quiver, Guardiola considers showing mercy but instead banishes him to West Ham.

However, weeks later Hart shows up again and then again and again until Guardiola is forced to bundle him into the back of his car and drive into the woods.

The scene ends with darkness setting and a yelping Hart being released into the woods. He doesn’t return.

2. MANGALA GETS STUCK IN A RONDO FOR SIX WEEKS

Guardiola loves his rondos, but they produced an awkward situation when Eliaquim Mangala proved incapable of gaining possession from his teammates despite his increasingly frantic lunges.

What begins as hilarity soon turns into genuine concern for Mangala as he begins to look haggard and haunted while Sergio Aguero apologetically nutmegs him.

Mangala has to adapt to a new life within the rondo and begins to eat his meals inside while the ball fizzes around him.

In the end, Kevin de Bruyne takes pity on his teammate with a suspiciously poorly placed pass. Mangala staggers from the rondo, tears in his eyes, only to immediately miscue a pass into De Bruyne’s feet.

He ends up at Everton.

3. SERGIO AGUERO DRINKS A CAN OF CARABAO AND IS RUSHED TO HOSPITAL

The delight at winning the Carabao Cup quickly wears off when a jubilant Sergio Aguero takes a swig from a can of Carabao in the Wembley dressing room.

Aghast teammates watch on as the stag-enthused energy drink passes his lips and immediately sets about dissolving his innards.

Aguero turns green and starts emitting a caribou mating call as he is bundled into an ambulance and taken off for stomach pumping.

4. SHEIKH MANSOUR SETS HIS EVIL OLDER BROTHER ON UNDER-PERFORMING PLAYERS

After City’s Champions League exit, Sheikh Mansour loses his rag and calls in his older brother Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan to lay down a training session Sopranos-style.

Although we don’t see graphically what happens in that session, several players allude to rope burns and being hit by extension cords before loudly insisting that they love Man City and the UAE.

At the end of one scene we see that Claudio Bravo’s genitals are still hooked up to a car battery. Fortunately, it seems to make him a marginally better ‘keeper.

5. TICKETS TO KIEV ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

Confidence is high in the City camp as they prepare to play Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals, so much so that Guardiola gets in early and books the tickets to Kiev.

In the aftermath of the 5-1 aggregate defeat, an animated Guardiola is seen on the phone failing to get a refund, so the players head to Kiev anyway on a sight-seeing trip.

The players return to find an open-top bus waiting for them with ‘Man City Champions of Europe’ emblazoned on it, which Guardiola has also failed to cancel. The documentary closes with the City players getting the bus to drop them all off at their respective homes.
