Premier League kick off: Our backers believe it’s Liverpool’s year

Though Pep Guardiola's Sky Blues are favoured to defend the league, it's Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side who've earned the confidence of our bettors...

While Man City may be the bookies favourites for the Premier League, the clear-cut winners from our customers’ point of view are the men in red.

Almost half of all the money wagered on the league has come for Klopp’s crop, with bettors encouraged by their shelling out stacks of cash to build on last season’s exciting runs domestically and in Europe.

It’s 28 years since a Scouse success in the league, but that hasn’t deterred our shrewd stakers, with over a third of all bets for the title landing on Liverpool. We price them as 4/1 runners currently. finish first every time with their football odds

Goalkeeper Alisson will hold the hopes of thousands of punters in his hands when he debuts for the Merseysiders this season after his record transfer from Roma, while Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaquiri bolster the squad for an all-out assault on the top-flight crown.

The red consensus at the top of the table isn’t copied in second place. A rejuvenated Arsenal under new management have seen the next most cash staked – they’re a juicy 25/1 for the league – though both Manchester clubs have more backers, with City at 8/13 enjoying almost as much support in terms of bets placed as Liverpool, but at much smaller stakes.

And even though United’s pre-season has been anything but harmonious, that hasn’t put off punters, who make them their third favourite selection to snatch the championship from their cross-city rivals. Mourinho’s men are 4/1 in the market.

At the other end of things, least likely to take the title home according to our customers are Watford – Hornets fans will be hoping the customer isn’t always right as they’re also one of our punters’ favourite bets for the drop.

And Leicester, champions just two years ago, languish among the also-rans once again, with promoted sides Wolves and Fulham getting more support than the Foxes in the market.

Maybe we should offer 5000/1 on them?

Or maybe not.
