March 2019 favourite to have most births following England heroics

Harry is also unsurprisingly odds-on to be most popular name of 2018 as England’s World Cup journey finally comes to an end…

We have slashed the odds of March being the month to have the most births in 2019 – exactly nine months after England’s World Cup heroics.

We make March odds-on at 4/7 to be 2019’s most popular month for births, with English football fans feeling frisky after their team reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Russia.

And, the odds have been cut dramatically on Harry – after top goalscorer Kane and unexpected hero Maguire – being the most popular name of 2018 from 7/1 to 4/5.

The name Gareth, which doesn’t make it into the top 20 names of 2018 so far, has also come in from 20/1 to just 6/1 as a homage to the waistcoat-wearing Southgate.

Plus, you cannot escape and you cannot forget that it’s just 4/6 for the manager to receive a knighthood in the New Year’s honours list.

It’s rated just 3/1 that Jordan is the most popular name of 2018 after goalie Pickford, with Lion (250/1) and VAR (500/1) also in the mix.

Asked about a baby boom spokesman Paddy Power said: “The English have plenty to celebrate. They ended 52 years of hurt and made the country love football again, the hot weather and the resignation of Boris Johnson.

“So, we’ve decided to slash the odds on midwives being very busy indeed nine months from now – and we reckon a lot of said babies are going to be mini Gareths and Harrys.”
