So, as the Premier League season begins to wind down, we look back at some of the business done to land teams where they are at this moment in time.
Or lack thereof, in Antonio Conte’s case.
Let’s be honest – Salah’s in with a Balon d’Or shout, so let’s not get angry about these nominations as you scroll through in anticipation of him not being number one – he is.

10: Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
Look, we understand that he isn’t popular because he’s actually a talented English footballer who can cut it at the top table. Considering what Guardiola demands of full backs, he’s done a fine job – bar passing the ball to Mo Salah in that 3-0 – but we’ll move on briskly.
9: Richarlison (Watford)
What a bloody find this was. Richarlison has been making some waves for Fluminese, but his impact with Watford has been incredible. He’s scored five times this season as well starting so many of their attacks away from home. Really excited for Arsenal to sign him next January.
8: Olivier Giroud (Chelsea)
Arsenal wanted to move on from him, which is fine. We understand. However, Giroud’s role of coming off the bench is the trademark of a good squad and Conte’s will to bring him in was justified, even if Chelsea fell way short of expectations.
7: Ederson (Manchester City)
Remember Joe Hart? LOLS.
6: Chris Wood (Burnley)
The only good thing to come out of New Zealand since Lord of the Rings, Chris Wood never ever starts for Burnley and he’s still scored nine times this season. We can’t quite figure out how, but he’s got the highest shot accuracy (60%) of any player with a reasonable amount of shots in the Premier League this year.
5: Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United)
His lowlight was definitely being responsible for the two goals they conceded at Old Trafford against Man City, but he’s chipped in with goals at crucial times and looks every bit like the hold-up striker than Mourinho craves.
4: Steve Mounie (Huddersfield Town)
It shouldn’t come as a massive shock to anyone because Mounie did well in France, but it’s really really hard to score goals for Huddersfield, I assure you. Considering they were favourites to finish bottom, this is a huge achievement for the Benin international.
3: Pascal Gross (Brighton & Hove Albion)
Without doubt, the find of the season. So much so that you’re angrily googling his name right now to validate your opinion that he’s not been more important to Brighton than Lukaku has been to United. Well kiddos, he has. Seven goals from midfield, too.
2: Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)
Considering how Liverpool play, it’s a tough bloody job to cover all the space left by Mane and Salah, so any Liverpool full back is going to be overworked. Robertson’s done an incredible job occupying opposition full backs on overlaps and his crossing has been at a high level.
1: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
I mean, come on. Who else did you think would be here?
