Three Wonderful Wagers for Burnley v Chelsea

Burnley's strong recent form should dent Chelsea's slim hopes of a top four place according to our traders...

Burnley to win – 10/3

Burnley are on a five-game winning streak, the best run in their Premier League history. Before that, they drew with Man City at home, and only narrowly lost to United and Liverpool, which shows they aren’t intimidated by bigger clubs.

Their recent run also includes two wins over fellow top-half sides Leicester and Everton, and only Arsenal in sixth separate the Clarets from their opponents this evening.

Chelsea have suffered several embarrassing away days this season. The defending champions have lost at strugglers like Crystal Palace and West Ham, and a 4-1 pummelling at Vicarage Road in February will have had Antonio Conte pulling his metaphorical hair out.

The Londoners do a have the wafer-thin hope of a Champions League spot if Spurs go in to meltdown in the coming weeks, but it’s slim motivation for team who you’d expect to have a new manager next season. Given Burnley’s recent form, dogged style and Chelsea’s questionable morale, we reckon 10/3 looks a nice price tonight.

Correct score: 2-1 – 13/1

There’s a eerily consistent feature to Burnley’s recent run as scary as Sean Dyche’s scowl. The Turf Moor side have won by the same scoreline – 2-1 – in four of their five wins.

Both teams to score has also paid out in Chelsea’s last four games, so their should be goals in this one.

While there’s no guarantee Burnley’s run will continue, if you want to juice up the win with the correct score, the price of 13/1 looks a reasonable shot given their form.

Anytime Goalscorer: Chris Wood – 15/8

Burnley’s hot form has been built on goals from their lanky striker Chris Wood. The Kiwi is flying at the moment, smashing five goals in five games, lifting the Lancashire side towards a Europa League spot after returning from injury in February.

Given his scoring run, Dyche could be forgiven for emitting a gravelly grumble as to where his team might be if their target man had been available all season.

Wood is priced at 5/1 for the first goal, but we prefer 15/8 on the Anytime Goalscorer market because we expect a few goals this evening.
