Adding Mour fuel to the fire? Odds tumble on Jose becoming the ‘Special Juan’ again

He may have signed a new contract at Old Trafford, but when has that ever meant anything?

As Jose Mourinho himself put it yesterday: “Madrid is on fire.”

And their support is terrified – as the odds on Mourinho returning to the Bernabeu, to succeed the under-fire Zinedine Zidane.

The Manchester United coach, who oversaw three stormy seasons in the Spanish capital, has been backed in from 6/1 to 2/1 favourite for the job – leading the betting ahead of Carlo Ancelotti (7/2), Mauricio Pochettino (4/1), and Luis Enrique (6/1).

Mourinho only this week extended his contract at Old Trafford, but made a point of saying that he ‘cared’ about Madrid in the press conference after.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Jose may have only just extended his contract at Old Trafford, but his bitterness towards Barcelona is such that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him return to Real.

“And a Mourinho reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo has been suggested all week – except it could be Jose on the move, rather than his compatriot.”
