Watch: Dimitri Payet’s outrageous stepover leaves keeper needing a stretcher

Ouch…

Dimitri Payet

It’s just under a year since Dimitri Payet departed West Ham to return to Marseille and it looks like he’s hasn’t skipped a beat since.

The French winger was notorious for his ankle-breaking skills while he was in the Premier League and unfortunately for Strasbourg goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja, he found that out the hard way last night.

Payet was brought on for Lucas Ocampos in the 56th minute as Marseille struggled to find an opener in their Ligue 1 contest. Fellow substitute Clinton Njie finally made the breakthrough with just over 10 minutes to go and then sent Payet clear with three left on the watch for a chance to seal it.

The former Hammer didn’t disappoint and produced a scintillating stepover that left poor Oukidja in a heap to finish off the contest at 2-0. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just the Strasbourg stopper’s pride that was hurt and he needed to be stretchered off the field with what’s reported to be a knee ligament injury.

We wish him the best in his recovery. However, if you want to watch Payet’s moment of magic you can do so for yourself – thanks to Yahoo Sports – below:
