Stupid punt: The 1000/1 shot one punter is backing in Chelsea v Swansea

The optimistic punts just keep on rolling in from our punters and we’ve got some beauties this evening…

Swansea to beat Chelsea 4-3 with Álvaro Morata scoring first – 1000/1

One rather optimistic punter from Inverness fancies Swansea to turn over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight despite the fact the Swans have only twice managed the feat in their entire history (1925, 2013).

He may get his wish on Álvaro Morata netting first though as the Spaniard grabbed the opener on four occasions already this Premier League season.

However, there’s never been a 4-3 scoreline in the 33 occasions these sides have met competitively in the past. We’ve seen stranger things. Well, first series anyway.

Southampton to beat Man City 2-1 with Wesley Hoedt netting the opener – 850/1

Unsurprisingly the punter on this gamble happens to hail from Southampton and it looks like the 4-1 over Everton at the weekend has got him feeling ultra-confident about the Saints again.

Ignoring the obvious gulf in class between the two sides, another factor going against this wager is the fact that April 2004 was the last time they beat The Citizens away.

He’s also gone with little known Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt to net first, even though he’s only scored seven times in his whole career. There’s a bit of a sinner in that Saints fan, we reckon!

Stoke to beat Liverpool 2-0 and Ryan Shawcross with the first goal – 500/1

This one might seem like a decent gamble on first glance – if you ignore the fact Liverpool have won on their last three visits to Stoke and also that Ryan Shawcross couldn’t score from a yard out at Crystal Palace last weekend.

It’s also worth ignoring that the once-capped English defender has only managed one Premier League goal in the last three seasons. You can kind of start to see why this one is out at 500/1.

To make matters worse, Liverpool have only been held scoreless twice all season (by both Manchester clubs) and are now on a run of eight games with a goal netted, while Stoke have only held one team (Watford) blank in their last 12 outings.

Stranger things have definitely happened over at
