Sam Allardyce’s spell at Bolton Wanderers (1999-2007) catapulted the former Trotters defender-turned-gaffer into the big time as a manager.
It was an era in Bolton’s history when they flew high in England’s top tier, and saw a number of well-known players arrive at the club, including a World Cup-winner or two and several superstar veterans.
Sam and his (mostly) foreign legion led Wanderers to a League Cup final in 2004, as well as a semi-final in the competition four years earlier, and won a place for themselves as many people’s second team during the mid-2000s.
But how many of the stars and saps of that side can you name?
