Three last minute West Ham backers hammer Paddy on a 150/1 shot

The Carabao Cup comeback had our punters laughing all the way to the bank…

At 2-0 up against an out-of-sorts West Ham, football fans everywhere – including our traders – would have been forgiven for believing high-flying Spurs were cruising into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

However, our punters had the lovely sniff of a turnaround and as the odds piled up from 90/1 to 100/1 to 125/1 they prepared to cash in on a classic comeback from the Hammers.

Three customers in the UK though have more patience than the Everton board it seems as they waited until the very last second to leap on a West Ham victory, when the odds seemed at their most unlikely.

That’s right, our terrific trio got their stakes on in the brief three-minute window before André Ayew’s 55th minute strike made it 2-1 and netted themselves a tasty 150/1 gamble.

A second goal from Ayew levelled matters at Wembley five minutes later before Angelo Ogbonna headed home on 70 minutes to complete the most unlikely of turnarounds for The Hammers against their illustrious London rivals.

That magic 15-minute spell scored hundreds of pounds for our three winners, but they weren’t the only ones to benefit from Tottenham’s charity.

A whole host of PP punters were also on the slightly lower 100/1 and 125/1 shots that West Ham briefly climbed to.

That includes one lucky customer from Walthamstow who landed £2,020 after taking the leap of faith when the hammers hit 100/1, while another from Nottingham grabbed £1,260 after placing £10 on Slaven Bilić’s men when they went to 125/1.

They don’t happen everyday, but rousing revivals do hit us where it hurts. So, if anyone asks you today ‘who saw that West Ham comeback coming?’

They answer is, Paddy Power’s punters did!
