Hotshot Jackpot: Three punters are on the brink of winning £375,000 – but who will win it?

They're just one match - and three different first goalscorers - away from landing £375k...

While most of us woke up this morning wondering why four-day weekends aren’t a thing, and whether or not we can get away with another hit of the snooze button, three Hotshot Jackpot players will have been feeling something else altogether.

That’s because they’re just one game of football away from landing £375,000 for FREE!

The PP customers, from Norfolk, Staffordshire and Dundalk have all selected three different goalscorers in a bid to land them the cash in the Arsenal v West Brom game tonight.

Alexis Sanchez

First off, the lad from Staffs has gone with black sheep Alexis Sanchez to find the net first. Arsenal have won seven of their last ten games against West Brom, drawn one and lost two.

Even so, this game could only be Alexis’ second Premier League start so far this campaign. He’s yet to score in the league too, though did net against Koln in the Europa League to get the third goal of the game.

He didn’t get on the pitch until the 67th minute in his side’s goalless draw against Chelsea, but with Arsene Wenger’s side now nine points behind the Manchester boys at the top and with Danny Welbeck out injured, will this be his chance? We can say for a fact that this Hotshot backer will be keeping his fingers and toes crossed at his desk today.

Alexandre Lacazette

Next up, our Irish contender has gone for Arsenal new boy Alexandre Lacazette.

So far this season, he’s netted two goals in the league. One of those, against Leicester, came within just two minutes. I’d say that this fella will be hoping for a nice and speedy repeat of that tonight.

He bagged 28 goals in 30 games for Lyon last season, so let’s hope he’s got his striking boots on tonight, for the sake of this punters’ nerves.

Hal Robson-Kanu (yep, you read that right)

Who might the third punter have gone with for his first goalscorer, you ask? Could it be Mesut Ozil, who’s back in training after a knee injury? Or perhaps Theo Walcott, even Olivier Giroud? Considering The Baggies have not won at The Emirates in seven years – losing every visit since then – we were expecting it to be an Arsenal man.

But no! This bloke from Norfolk is backing Hal Robson-Kanu to do the business. He’s made five appearances so far this season, scoring the winner (and the first and only goal) at Burnley.

He also got sent off, but I’m sure even if he played tonight, came on and got the first goal before being given a straight red, this lad will be £375,000 richer and probably couldn’t care any less.

So, that’s that. There’s some seriously squeaky bums out there right now, and we’re backing them all the way to become our first Hotshot Jackpot winner of the season.

If you’re curious to know how they got to this point, these were their selections:

Manchester City v Crystal Palace: Leroy Sane
Southampton v Manchester United: Romelu Lukaku
Stoke v Chelsea: Alvaro Morata
Leicester v Liverpool: Mohamed Salah
Brighton v Newcastle: Tomer Hemed
