Three reasons why Celtic will definitely beat Paris Saint-Germain

There's only one set of Bhoys that can get this job done...

They might be a 1/4 shot, but are PSG really that big of a certainty to leave Glasgow with three points in their Champions League opener?

Even though Celtic are a massive 10/1 shot, we’re not so sure…

So, here’s three bullet-proof reasons why Celtic will get the better of the star-studded PSG outfit.

King Brendan

After 72 Premier League games, Jurgen Klopp has a point less than Brendan Rodgers did while at Liverpool. Say what you like, but going a season unbeaten with anyone is an achievement.

It means a few things; the main one being that you have the command of a dressing room to perform exactly how you’d like them to. Rodgers has prepared for opposition like this before and out-played them because he understands the game.

The brand of football Celtic play in the SPL is easy to coach because they’re so much better than everyone else.

Brendan could re-sign 41-year-old Bobo Balde and he’d net a hat-trick against Partick Thistle.

Where he earns his money is in games Celtic shouldn’t win. He’ll set them up accordingly and there are very few managers better at rising to the occasion than Brendan Rodgers.

How much better is Neymar than Moussa Dembele anyway?

Paris Pressure Cooker

For all the hundreds of millions the Paris club have spent over the summer, there’s still that lingering feeling that they can’t get the job done when the pressure is on.

With all due respect to the tourist office that was once the Camp Nou, we’re not quite sure Neymar and co will be ready for the largely inaudible, alcohol-fuelled bellows from the rafters of Celtic Park.

PSG don’t even need to be behind. They were four goals to the good in Barcelona and somehow still managed to lose.

That’s a different level of sh*tting their overly soft, puffy pillow-laden beds.

This is a club that will win Ligue 1 after playing half their games in a library. Unless Thiago Motta fancies a kickabout in the Parkhead Library and Learning Centre, I’m not sure they’ll get a suitable environment.

Barcelona Bombardment

Hang on a second, here. PSG have done nothing to merit the sort of praise they’re receiving.

Let’s steer our minds back five years here. Tony Watt, anyone?

Barcelona’s XI that night consisted of the likes of Leo Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Dani Alves. They’d won all ‘round them and this PSG side have done nothing yet.

They beat Metz last weekend. We reckon Kilmarnock’s U21s would be good for a 2-2 draw with that lot.

European nights in Celtic Park define any sort of logic you can throw at them. It does not make a blind bit of difference.

That fateful night, Tony Watt and Paddy McCourt were on the Celtic bench. As were John Herron and Marcus Fraser. Watt’s playing for Leuven, Herron’s at Raith Rovers,

Fraser’s a centre half for Ross County and McCourt plays centre midfield for Finn ‘fu**ing’ Harps!
