It wasn’t the best of days for Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium today. They went down 5-0 to a rampant Manchester City, albeit hampered as they were by the 37th-minute sending off of Sadio Mane.
Liverpool fans, understandably, were not best pleased. And things got even worse for Reds supporters who happened to witness a post-match Tweet from the Middleton branch of the Greater Manchester Police.
GMP Middleton, with more than a hint of schadenfreude, were quick to rub it in, much to the displeasure of LFC Twitter…
Unsurprisingly, the response was mixed, with particular ire on display from loyal Reds on Twitter.
Please can you just do your jobs! You can start by arresting Jon Moss for fraudulently wearing a referee's outfit ?

Sadly, a higher-up appears to have ordered the initial Tweet deleted, but thankfully we’ve preserved it for posterity above. Still, that didn’t stop the UK police’s finest social media executive from laying down the banter law.
